This cordless keyboard & mouse combination is superior to many other keyboards/ mice due to its long reception. Most cordless keyboards have a 6 ft. range, but this one is 4x more with 24 ft. reception range. I’ve tried other keyboards from Logitech and Microsoft claiming 12 ft. reception, but could only do 6 ft. With this Creative keyboard, I’m able to get 16 ft. range no problems with lots of electronic devices nearby. If you really need range farther than that (illogical usage since it defeats the purpose of a large screen TV), then you would need to get a bluetooth keyboard/ mouse, which would cost at least 0+.
Other cool features about this keyboard/ mouse are: 1. transmitter has multiple channels & unique ids for better reception and security, 2. batteries for keyboard & mouse are simultaneously rechargeable and replaceable, and can be charged while in use, 3. 15 keys are custom assignable to programs, 4. the mouse’s buttons are customizable to specific keys.
Note that Creative actually made 2 versions of this keyboard. One version is the non-standard type with 2 “\” keys as mentioned in a previous review, and another one is the standard type with only 1 “\” key. When buying this product, make sure the seller specifies if the keyboard is standard or not.

I bought this set at a local store over 18 months ago.
I use it with my home theater PC, at a distance of about 13 ft between my couch and the back of the computer case.
I have been very happy with the set, under both Vista x64 and now Win 7 x64. There was no need for any drivers to be installed.
I use Sanyo eneloop batteries, and the battery life is a few months. The mouse eats them faster, but that’s expected.
The only signal problem I have had is with the keyboard. Sometimes keys tend to get repeated too quickly. Nothing in the Windows keyboard settings or BIOS can fix it. I don’t type a whole lot on the HTPC – I mostly use the mouse to start programs and movies, so this problem doesn’t bother me much. But I might be less happy if I was typing documents or code.
